10 September 2007
Swiss International Airlines is to begin three weekly flights between London City airport and Bucharest via Geneva next year.
The services will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from April next year and use an Airbus A319, according to reports.
Harry Hohmeister, the airline's chief network officer, said that the new route is part of an ongoing development of Geneva as one of its major bases.
'Our new service to Bucharest is a further sign of our commitment to Geneva as one of our three national airports,' he said.
'And we firmly intend to continue with our current Geneva expansion.'
Swiss serves 70 destinations around the world with a fleet of 74 aircraft. Its central hub is in Zurich with an additional base in Basel.
