Tourists 'flocking to Antalya'
12 September 2007

Some eight million foreigners are expected to head to the Turkish resort of Antalya this year as the city continues to attract visitors from far and wide.

The destination is so popular with visitors that many decide to set up home, with 13,000 foreigners already residing there, Turkish newspaper Today's Zaman reports.

Germans make up the biggest portion of non-Turkish residents in Antalya, with 2,745 people from Germany currently living there, and the most popular district within the resort is Alanya.

When asked about the features of the city that make it such a good location for holidays or settling down, both residents and visitors cite its climate, surrounding environment and the friendly nature of the native population.

Today's Zaman asked one expat about the appeal of Antalya, who said that it offers something for all types of tourist, claiming: "You can find anything here."

Being a coastal town, Antalya boasts beaches for travellers looking for a relaxing break as well as places of historical interest for tourists eager to learn about the area.
