Singapore prepares to launch A380 services
12 September 2007
Singapore Airlines has confirmed that it will begin scheduled services with the new Airbus A380 aircraft on 28 October.
The A380 will operate a daily return flight between Singapore and Sydney, replacing one of the three Boeing 747-400 planes that currently serves the route.
Three classes will be incorporated into the 471-seat aircraft, offering 12 suites, 60 business class and 399 economy class seats.
Introducing the new service, the operator said: 'Singapore Airlines is delighted to begin its operations using the new A380 to Sydney and travellers on the route can look forward to the world's best inflight products, combined with the legendary Singapore Airlines service.'
The carrier claims that its new suites, which will be unveiled at the delivery of the A380 in October, will deliver a class 'beyond first'.
Airbus' double-deck A380 is the largest passenger airliner in the world, measuring 73 metres in length, 24 metres in height and with a range of 15,200 kilometres.
