Return of Spain services 'a priority' at Norwich
13 September 2007
Representatives from Norwich international airport have claimed that the reinstatement of services to Alicante and Malaga is a priority after they were cut by an airline earlier this year.
A low-cost carrier caused controversy when it axed its services to the popular Spanish resorts, claiming that a passenger tax imposed by the airport had led to a drop in ticket sales.
Norwich has now said that it is in negotiations with alternative providers and will make the restoration of the routes a priority, the Norwich Evening News reports.
Airport spokesperson Louise Wilkinson said: 'We are looking at every possibility because we know people want the product back at Norwich.
'The flights to Alicante and Malaga are a priority because people are asking for them back and we want to give our passengers choice.'
While she refrained from giving details, Ms Wilkinson said that talks are ongoing with a number of chartered and scheduled carriers.
