International photo expo in Barcelona
14 September 2007

Photography enthusiasts should ensure they make a trip to Barcelona before November 11th to experience one of the world's pre-eminent expositions of photojournalism.

Every year the Centre de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona (CCCB) hosts the World Press Photo showcase, which is widely recognised as the world's most important touring exhibition of photographic journalism.

The award-winning photographs from the World Press Photo annual competition will be on show, with images representing a range of subject areas.

Every year an international jury selects winning pictures from 11 categories, including news, current affairs, sport, daily life, art and entertainment, portraits and nature.

Some 4,266 photographers from 123 countries took part in the 2006 competition, with pictures covering issues such as the war in Iraq and the Asian tsunami.

The CCCB is situated in the heart of Barcelona, parallel to the famous Rambla and close to the bustling Placa de Catalunya.
