Frankfurt handles over 5m passengers in August

Frankfurt airport handled over 5.1m passengers in August only the second time that it has managed this amount of customers in a single month.
The hub, which is the home base of Fraport, saw year-on-year growth of 1.7% and its busiest August on record last month.
Previously the highest passenger figure for the month had been 5.05m in 2005.
The main driver of growth at Frankfurt was intercontinental traffic, which experienced a year-on-year rise of 2.8%, supported largely by the United Arab Emirates market, which grew by 11.5%.
Demand for Caribbean destinations also grew by 5.6%.
There were a total of 43,096 takeoffs and landings at Frankfurt in August, a rise of 0.7% on the previous year.
