Scottish golf groups head for Mexico
14 September 2007
The world's leading golf exhibition will take place in Mexico this year and representatives of Scotland's top courses will be there in the hope of boosting their exposure.
International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) will draw together the most prestigious buyers and suppliers from the golf tourism market.
Scotland claims to be the 'home of golf', with over 550 courses across the country, including five of the eight Open Championship courses.
It is estimated that some £300m of revenue comes into the country every year through golf tourism, with the USA market alone accounting for £50m of this.
Catherine Vaughan, IGTM marketing manager, said: 'The level and number of Scottish exhibitors clearly highlights Scotland's commitment to the golf tourism sector.
'IGTM has always been a valuable sales and marketing exercise.'
Carnoustie Golf Links, Loch Lomond and the St Andrews Golf Development Group will be among the associations exhibiting at the IGTM show this year.
