Further growth for airports in 2006

Britain's central and regional airports saw further growth in passengers last year, according to the latest air passenger survey from the Civil Aviation Authority.
The report shows that London's airports handled 137m passengers in 2006, 58% of the total number and an increase of 3% on the traffic level of 132m recorded in 2005.
Regional airports managed the remaining 42% of travellers in 2006 - a total of 98m people, four per cent more than the 95m the previous year.
Some 28% of all passengers made their journeys from Heathrow last year, a decline of three per cent from 2005, while Gatwick handled 14% of all traffic, Stansted took 10% and Manchester saw a 9% share.
Dublin was the most popular point of travel for people departing from London's airports, followed by New York JFK, Malaga and Amsterdam. The top destination for business customers was Edinburgh, followed by Dublin and Glasgow.
Regional airport passengers showed a preference for Palma, Alicante and Malaga, while Orlando was the most popular long-haul route.
