Lufthansa adds 3 long-haul routes
21 September 2007
Lufthansa has unveiled its timetable for winter 2007-08, with three new routes to Orlando, Karachi and Lahore.
The introduction of the new timetable will mean that the airline's international route network will encompass 188 destinations in 79 countries.
Karl Ulrich Garnadt, Lufthansa board member, commented: 'We are enlarging our long-haul route network, with the focus on America and Asia.
'In Europe, we are further expanding our route network to eastern Europe and simultaneously raising frequencies on several routes to business destinations.'
Lufthansa's winter season will bring a capacity increase of 5.7% on last year and a total of 13,272 scheduled flights, 2.9% more than the winter of 2006-07.
From 28 October, when the new timetable comes into effect, the carrier will operate 12,208 flights per week on domestic and European routes and 1,064 long-haul services to 42 countries.
In addition to its new connections, Lufthansa will also resume services to the Argentinian capital of Buenos Aires this winter. At a distance of just under 11,500km, this flight from Frankfurt is the operator's longest non-stop route.
