Sydney 'top city for travellers'
25 September 2007
Sydney is the world's top city for holidays, according to the results of the latest Conde Nast Traveller readers' choice awards.
The Australian metropolis was named the number one city destination, followed by Florence, San Francisco, Bangkok and Vancouver.
Around 28,000 readers of the magazine voted on criteria including ambience, friendliness, culture, restaurants, lodging and shopping.
This is the 11th time that Conde Nast Traveller readers have given their seal of approval to Sydney, a fact welcomed by New South Wales minister for tourism Sandra Nori.
'Sydney's enviable mix of events, beauty, sophistication and relaxed vibe is what Sydneysiders love about it and it's also what makes it so attractive to visitors,' she said.
'The readers of Conde Nast Traveller magazine are sophisticated travellers who actively seek out new and exciting destinations. It's a great credit to Sydneysiders and our tourism industry that we have remained one of their favourite world cities for so long.'
