Continental prepares to launch NY-Mumbai link
28 September 2007

Continental Airlines will launch its inaugural non-stop service between New York and Mumbai on 1 October.

The route will link America's financial centre with India's capital of business and also its most populous city.

To begin with the service will depart from Newark Liberty International airport four times a week, increasing to a daily service from 28 October.

Jeff Smisek, president of Continental Airlines, said: 'We are pleased with the support we have received for this new non-stop route that allows travellers to avoid lengthy and inconvenient connections in Europe and the Middle East.

'We see significant opportunities for growth on this new route linking America's financial centre with India's business and entertainment capital and most populous city.'

Mumbai will be the 30th city in the airline's transatlantic network, joining its New York to Delhi service, among others.
