New hotel resort planned for Hawaii
05 October 2007

Disney has announced that it is to build a new resort on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.

The centre will not be the same as Disney's other attractions however, as it will be the only hotel complex that is not situated close to one of the company's theme parks.

Some 800 rooms will be available in the new resort, which is situated on 21 acres of oceanfront land.

Around $144m (£70.7m) was spent to secure the location and the complex is expected to open in 2011.

Jay Rasulo, chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, said: 'This resort hotel will give our guests another way to visit an exciting part of the world with a brand they trust.'

Disney already operates 38 resort hotels worldwide, offering more than 35,000 rooms.
