Nottingham 'UK's top regional hub'

Nottingham East Midlands airport (EMA) is the best regional air hub in the UK, according to the Travel Bulletin 2007 Star Awards.
The base overcame competition from Birmingham and Manchester to take the regional airport award.
Penny Coates, EMA managing director, said that the news was 'very pleasing' for the airport and its team, who work 'incredibly hard' to deliver good customer service.
She added: 'The award shows the confidence, trust and respect our colleagues in the travel industry have for the airport and we are delighted that this has been recognised in a very competitive marketplace.'
Earlier this year Nottingham was named the best regional UK airport at the 2007 Travel Weekly Globe Awards and in 2005 the hub won the best UK airport accolade at the British Travel Awards.
EMA is a popular departure point for local holidaymakers and in 2006 its top five passenger destinations were Alicante, Dublin, Malaga, Palma and Rome.
