Dubai to host prestigious arts & antiques fair
10 October 2007
The city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates will host one of its major events in December - the International Fine Art and Antiques Fair.
Held between 12 and 15 December, this event is hoped to join the 'select club' of major art and antiques fairs held in Europe and the USA.
One factor that is expected to boost the exposure and status of this event is its venue - the Dubai international convention and exhibition centre, which has already hosted a number of successful trade and public events.
Collectors, curators and academics along with art lovers and antiques aficionados are set to attend the fair.
Anyone hoping to make a purchase will need to have deep pockets however, as the objects on sale are expected to fetch up to $5m (£2.45m).
Dubai has steadily grown in popularity as a tourist destination over recent years and consistently attracts visitors on the strength of its stunning landscapes and architecture.
It is home to the Burj al Arab hotel, the 321-metre tall hotel designed to resemble a billowing sail.
