Qantas announces NZ investment
10 October 2007
Australian airline Qantas has announced that it will make a major investment in its New Zealand domestic product.
Grant Lilly, Qantas regional general manager for New Zealand, said that a multi-million dollar injection of finance will take place in November.
The resultant product enhancements are expected to involve a focus on the business traveller.
Mr Lilly said: 'With these changes, which will be implemented progressively from next month, Qantas will bring its Cityflyer brand to the New Zealand market.
'Cityflyer is being tailored for the specific needs of our New Zealand business travellers, and will operate on the major business routes of Auckland-Wellington, Auckland-Christchurch and Wellington-Christchurch.'
Among the improvements that are set to be offered under the Cityflyer programme are options to make the airport process quicker and easier, complimentary morning newspapers and a free bar service from 16:00 on weekdays.
Some AU$3m (£1.3m) will be invested in upgrading the Qantas lounges at Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington airports.
