Delta upgrades onboard offering
11 October 2007
Delta Air Lines is to begin upgrading the inflight service that intercontinental coach class passengers receive on its Boeing 737-800 aircraft, it has announced.
The two major developments are changes to the seats to offer more space and increased comfort and the introduction of the 'Delta on Demand' entertainment system via individual screens on every seat.
Some 144 coach seats are available on Delta flights using the 737, as well as 16 first class spaces.
Joanne Smith, senior-vice president of inflight services, said: 'Introducing more comfortable and roomy seating for coach class customers and expanding Delta on Demand to more of our airplanes are additional steps we're making to ensure Delta passengers enjoy a great experience when they travel with us on long-haul flights.'
A total of 28 aircraft will offer the new services by May 2008, with an upgraded plane being introduced approximately every two weeks.
The first modified Boeing 737 began serving intercontinental routes on October 10th.
