Plane makes emergency landing on car
16 October 2007

Air travel is well known for being one of the safest forms of transport but a family from Croatia may have a different take on the matter after a plane almost landed on the roof of their car.

The family were driving along a dual carriageway in Sinj, south Croatia, when their vehicle turned into an emergency landing strip.

A light aircraft was attempting to touch down on the road but misjudged its direction and hit the roof of the Volkswagen Passat.

Mario Kamber, who was behind the wheel of the car, said he simply 'couldn't believe' what was happening.

'There was a huge roar and then the plane landed on top of us, skidded off the roof and onto the road in front of us,' Mr Kamber added.

'We then slid into the side of it.'

The family car was completely written off but incredibly no-one involved in the accident was injured.
