More flights to Innsbruck this winter
16 October 2007

Austrian skiing destination Innsbruck will be more accessible for winter holidaymakers this year, with a number of new flights going on offer.

British Airways will be among the carriers commencing new services to Innsbruck this season, with a route to be operated from Manchester every Sunday.

This will supplement the airline's existing connection between Gatwick and the skiing destination, offering up to eight flights each week.

Winter holidaymakers can travel from the airport to Innsbruck city centre in 18 minutes via a bus that operates every 15 minutes.

Free ski bus services then transport visitors from the centre of the town to any of the nine satellite ski resorts around Innsbruck.

Austria's Tirol region, which includes Innsbruck, was able to open the majority of its slopes last winter despite the lack of snowfall across much of Europe, thanks to its many high-altitude locations.

The ski regions in the immediate vicinity of Innsbruck incorporate 285km of piste, with 80 cable cars and lifts in areas such as Mutteralm, Gletscher and Axamer Lizum.
