Check insurance, World Cup travellers warned
16 October 2007
Rugby fans planning a road trip to Paris this weekend to enjoy the Rugby World Cup final have been urged to check that they are properly insured before heading off.
According to insurance provider NFU Mutual, many of the sports fans heading to France to watch England take on South Africa will drive.
The company advised these people to learn exactly what their insurance policy covers them for before driving on foreign roads.
Laura Wood of NFU Mutual said: 'As people frantically book up the remaining Channel crossings in the hope of seeing their team lift the trophy for a second time, insurance is probably the last thing on their mind.
'However, driving on unfamiliar foreign roads can be a tricky business. It is important that you check whether you are covered in the event of an accident or theft whilst you drive through France.'
England's unexpected victory over France in the World Cup semi-final sparked a frenzy of ticket buying and hotel booking among rugby fans.
Eurostar has laid on extra trains to Paris on the days leading up to the weekend and expects around 25,000 people to travel on its services.
