Delta, Air France agreement leads to new transatlantic routes
17 October 2007
Delta Air Lines and Air France have signed a joint venture agreement, giving rise to new non-stop transatlantic routes from the American carrier.
Travellers with Delta will have direct access from Atlanta to London Heathrow on a daily basis from 29 March 2008.
New links will also be opened from New York JFK to Heathrow, Paris Orly and Lyon from 29 March, 2 June and 15 July respectively.
The joint venture agreement between Delta and Air France will see the operators sharing revenues and costs on their transatlantic routes.
It will encompass combined revenues of around US$1.5 billion (£736m) and is expected to lead to more travel options for customers.
Delta chief executive Richard Anderson said: 'This is a win for Delta, Air France and for the loyal base of customers who fly our airlines across the Atlantic each year.'
He added: 'Together, we will be able to offer passengers more flight options and frequencies, better schedules, new opportunities to earn more miles to take advantage of an enlarged network with seamless booking.'
