Air Berlin has opened a new route connecting Stansted airport to Munich in Germany.

The airline will operate two daily flights from London to Munich on every weekday and a single daily service on weekend days.

Munich is Air Berlin's eighth link to Germany from Stansted, with flights also available to Berlin, Dusseldorf, Hanover and Leipzig among others.

'With direct links to Air Berlin hubs from Stansted, passengers can connect easily onto our large route network which operates over 350 flights a day in more than 90 airports across Germany, Spain, Portugal, Scandinavia, Italy, Hungary, Switzerland, and north Africa,' said Titus Johnson, the carrier's country manager for the UK and Ireland.

Nick Barton, business development director at Stansted, commented: 'Air Berlin is firmly established as one of the market leaders in the low-fare airline industry and we're delighted to see them extend their connections into Germany.'

Air Berlin also flies from Stansted to Palma de Mallorca, Nice, Rome, Vienna, Copenhagen and others.
