Copenhagen Metro linked to airport
05 November 2007

Visitors to Copenhagen have had their travel options widened with the completion of a new portion of the city's Metro system, linking the airport to the city centre.

Tourism agency Visit Copenhagen announced that the new section had been completed, making the centre of the city accessible in 15 minutes from Kastrup airport.

Some 4.5 kilometres of track make up the new segment of the Metro network, which runs from the airport, along the eastern shoreline of Amager, with stops at the new Amager Strandpark beach.

It then continues through the centre of Copenhagen to Frederiksberg and Vanlose.

This development is a 'boon to tourists, business travellers and Copenhageners', the organisation said.

The Danish capital's Metro system is reportedly the most modern in the world, with a 98.5% rate of reliability and no reported disruptions to services over the past six months as the developments were being completed.
