Haryana hopes to boost exposure

The state of Haryana in northern India has plans to boost its profile and become one of the country's major tourist destinations.
Haryana travel industry representatives will hold a press conference at the World Travel Market (WTM) on 13 November where they will outline their plans for growth.
One of the main initiatives will be the development of niche markets, such as golf tourism the state boasts four courses rural farmhouse holidays and cultural travel.
'Haryana has also been pioneering the concept of highway tourism, which has seen beautiful tourist complexes being constructed close to some of the major roads passing through the state,' Kiran Choudhry, Haryana's tourism minister, said at the WTM.
'Each resort includes hotels, motels, bars, fast food centres, health clubs and conference halls.'
Haryana only became a separate state in 1966 when the Punjab was divided and is close enough for a daytrip from Indian capital city New Delhi.
The state is located just 6km from Indira Ghandi international airport and shares a border with four other regions, including Rajasthan.
