New premium service for Austrian passengers
20 November 2007

Austrian Airlines passengers will have access to a new premium service on longer medium-haul flights from September next year.

The carrier announced that it will be converting four of its Airbus A320 aircraft on a staged basis throughout 2008 and equipping its business class areas with 24 sleeper seats.

Passengers using these seats will benefit from 116cm of legroom, an electronically adjustable backrest and footrest and an integrated massage function.

Business travellers will also have access to a personal and individually operable DVD player and an integrated PC socket.

Austrian Airlines said that the new offering is part of its ongoing business development and expansion into the Middle East, eastern Europe and other regions that are up to six hours away from central Europe.

Chief executive officer Alfred Otsch said: 'With our converted Airbus A320 aircraft, we want to offer passengers on flights lasting between three and a half and six hours increased levels of comfort, privacy and exclusivity, thereby setting another milestone in our quality and service offensive.

'Our new service features will enable business passengers on these longer routes to travel in the knowledge that they will reach their destination in a relaxed, stress-free condition.'
