More passengers through EMA in October
29 November 2007

Nottingham/East Midlands airport (EMA) has announced that its passenger numbers increased for the ninth consecutive month in October.

Some 475,441 people travelled through the hub last month, 6.2% more than at the same time in 2006.

The international scheduled sector saw the steepest growth in traffic in October, with over 280,500 customers this year, compared to 235,300 12 months ago.

In the first ten months of 2007, the airport handled more than 4.66m passengers, a 14% increase on the 4.08m people who flew to and from EMA between January and October last year.

Dublin was the most popular destination for people travelling from Nottingham, with over 26,000 visitors, while the island destination of Palma on Mallorca was also in the top three locations.

Nottingham EMA was recently named the best UK airport at the British Travel Awards, which managing director Penny Coates said was 'an amazing example of how well we are perceived by our peers in the travel industry'.
