'Terminal 6' opened at Heathrow
14 December 2007
Virgin Atlantic has opened a new passenger facility at Heathrow airport and dubbed it 'Terminal Six'.
The passenger hub, which was opened by the Spice Girls, is open for business immediately, months before British Airways launches from Terminal Five, Virgin Atlantic pointed out.
Customers will reportedly benefit from a 'seamless and simple' journey through the airport and short walks between check-in and security.
The terminal is also being promoted as quicker to get to by car and the Heathrow Express train service than Terminal Five.
Sir Richard Branson, president of Virgin Atlantic, said: 'We've been secretly working on our plans for Terminal Six for two years and are delighted that we can now show other airlines how check-in should be.
'Our new terminal is fast, efficient and seamless, and enables our business passengers to check-in from limo to lounge in just six minutes.'
Over 60,000 passengers are expected to use the new terminal every week and around 3m customers are forecast in the first year of operations.
