South Africa wins nature tourism award

A Chinese awards ceremony has presented its accolade for the top nature destination of 2007 to South Africa.
The World Traveller Awards was held in Shanghai and is recognised as the only professional travel industry awards event in China.
South Africa was considered to be the best destination for nature travel owing to its offering of authentic experiences that have left the natural environment unspoilt.
Zolelwa Mukozho, of the country's marketing group South African Tourism, said: 'This award will go a long way to cementing South Africa as the leading nature destination in the minds of [the] Chinese travel trade and consumers.'
The company representative also claimed that the award was reflective of how well South Africa had been positioned in a marketing sense.
Other winners at the World Traveller Awards included Paris, in the 'top dream destination' category, and Singapore Airlines, which was named the most reputed air carrier.
New Zealand took the accolade for the leading destination for outdoor activities.
