Barcelona galleries to explore China
07 January 2008

People visiting Barcelona this year will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of China as three museums around the city host artistic explorations of the country, its culture and its history.

The showcases will be held across Barcelona to mark the year in which the world's most populous nation will host the Olympic Games.

Starting off the trend will be the Miro Foundation, which in February will host Swiss diplomat Uli Sigg's collection of contemporary art, consisting of 50 pieces painted between 1986 and 2006.

In June the CaixaForum will hold a display organised by Gao Minglu, an expert in the latest artistic trends in China.

Rounding off the calendar for 2008, the Centre of Contemporary Culture will hold an exhibition exploring the details of the significant urban changes that China has experienced.

Meanwhile, Barcelona's Picasso Museum will explore the fascination that Picasso had with Velazquez in a showcase that will include a number of items by Velazquez from Madrid's Prado Museum.
