Expert allays fears of airport disruption

A travel expert has predicted that any disruption that could result from the removal of the restrictions on cabin baggage will be kept to a minimum at UK airports.
Concerns have been expressed within the industry that the change in the rules, and the fact that some airports are taking advantage of the development while some are retaining current arrangements, will cause confusion.
Tom Hall, a travel writer at Lonely Planet, told BBC Radio Five Live that airports are likely to do all they can to minimise disruption for travellers.
'I think what we will see is lots of staff on hand at airports, especially those that aren't implementing the two-bag rule, lots of reminders to people before they get to security that this is what the restrictions are,' he said.
'That should minimise disruption, but there is bound to be a bit of last minute packing and repacking, so it may be worth allowing just a little bit of extra time.'
The UK's largest airport, Heathrow, is set to remove the one-bag restriction, while the second largest, Gatwick, plans to keep the limit in place for the foreseeable future.
