Singapore Flyer to open in March
18 January 2008
In March this year travellers will be treated to the opening of the Singapore Flyer, the world's largest observation wheel.
Standing at 165 metres above ground level, the Singapore Flyer will take over the world record currently held by the Star of Nanchang, the 160-metre-high wheel in eastern China.
The new structure will offer panoramic views of up to 45 kilometres over the South China Sea to Singapore's neighbouring islands of Indonesia and Malaysia.
Visitors to the south-east Asian city state in March will also be able to enjoy a fashion festival running from 28 March to 6 April.
This event will feature world-class designers, international models and fashion exhibitions.
In a recent development in the Singapore tourism industry, the city opened the third terminal in Changi international airport, boosting the hub's capacity to 64m passengers a year.
Changi airport handled 35m travellers in 2006.
