SAS to offer more Copenhagen services
18 January 2008
SAS is to offer an additional daily flight from Heathrow to Copenhagen this year, it has been announced.
The new service, which will become operational in the summer, will bring to seven the total number of daily flights offered by SAS to the Danish capital, Travelmole reports.
Heathrow's expanded service will complement the existing connection provided by SAS between London City airport and Copenhagen.
Lars-Ove Filipson, the airline's general manager for the UK and Ireland, celebrated the fact that it had been able to secure an additional slot at Heathrow.
'In recent years it has become increasingly difficult for airlines to add additional Heathrow routes to their networks, and so typically service expansion depends on the introduction of larger aircraft which SAS has also implemented on its services to Scandinavia,' he added.
'The addition of the new service now also takes the number of SAS flights out of London airports to Copenhagen to 50% more than our competitor BA.'
