Manchester to house Concorde in 'super hangar'

The retired Concorde supersonic aircraft, which has been on display at Manchester airport since 2003, is set to be moved to a new, high-tech home.
A £1.1m 'super hangar' will be constructed to house the jet, the airport announced, which will also serve as a visitor centre.
Work on the new structure, which is designed to protect Concorde from the elements and also boost visitor numbers, will begin in the spring and is scheduled to finish at the end of July.
The jet is currently housed in Manchester's aviation viewing park, where it also serves as a wedding venue where many couples have tied the knot.
Andrew Holl, operations director at the airport, said he was 'delighted' that work on the hangar is set to begin soon.
'Concorde is very close to our hearts here at Manchester airport and we know that her many thousands of visitors feel passionately about her care for the future,' he added.
'We have been working on this proposal for the last year and are all very excited that the first spade will be going in the ground in a matter of weeks.'
