Etihad to boost frequency to Dublin
22 January 2008

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has announced that it is to increase the frequency of its flights to Dublin.

From 30 March this year, the carrier's connection between Abu Dhabi and Dublin will rise from the current six flights a week to a daily service.

This route has been 'hugely popular' since its launch in July 2007, Etihad said, with more than 44,000 passengers carried and an average seat factor of more than 80%.

James Hogan, the carrier's chief executive officer, said: 'Dublin has been one of Etihad's most successful launches since the airline began in 2003 especially with customers flying onwards from Abu Dhabi to our destinations in the Far East such as Bangkok and Sydney.

'It is great news that we can now provide a daily operation to the Irish capital which has become such a key service for business and leisure travellers travelling between the UAE and Ireland.'

Etihad, which has only been operating since 2003, carried more than 4.6m passengers last year, a 67% increase on the 2.8m of 2006.
