24 January 2008
A new tourist water bus service has been launched to offer stunning views of the city of Dubai.
The Marine Agency of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority confirmed the commencement of the service, called the Tourist Line, on 22 January.
Visitors who use the water bus will be carried on the Dubai Creek between Al Shindagha Station, near Heritage Village, and Al Seef Station.
Mohammad Obaid Al Mulla, chief executive of the Marine Agency, said: 'This is the first initiative taken by the Marine Agency to benefit tourists and residents who want to have a pleasurable trip in the Dubai Creek, which has been a lifeline of activities related to trade and culture.'
Six water buses are currently operating the service, with a further four to be added next month.
Mr Al Mulla said that the crossing, which has a ticket price of 25 dirhams (£3.50) per person, is expected to prove popular with tourists.
