Glasgow prepares for film festival
25 January 2008

The city of Glasgow will be hosting one of its major events in February and welcoming plenty of visitors.

From February 14th to 24th the Scottish city will hold its annual film festival, which this year is hoped to build on the success enjoyed by the 2006-07 event.

The festival will mark the centenary of the birth of legendary Hollywood actress Bette Davis by screening a number of her films.

Davis was one of the quintessential figures of Hollywood's Golden Age, starring in films such as Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? and All About Eve.

In her time she received ten best actress Oscar nominations and was an important part of the fight to secure stronger roles and better conditions for film performers.

The Glasgow Film Festival will focus on a number of other elements of filmmaking and cinema history, with sections focusing on homegrown Scottish talent, European movies and independent work.
