Etihad to refurbish Abu Dhabi lounge
30 January 2008
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has announced that it is to pursue a multimillion dollar refurbishment of its premium lounge at Abu Dhabi airport.
Bigger, state-of-the-art facilities will be incorporated into the lounge, including a computer and electronic games room.
There will also be a new dining area, a viewing deck looking out onto the airfield and a 'well-being' zone offering a range of spa treatments.
The new lounge will open in two phases over the coming months, with the first section set to open in mid-February.
Covering 855 square metres, the refurbished facility will have the capacity to cater for up to 200 customers at a time.
Peter Baumgartner, Etihad's executive vice-president of marketing and products, said: 'Our new Abu Dhabi lounge facilities represent a major investment and demonstrate the airline's commitment to delivering world-class premium products and services to its first and business-class customers, both in-flight and on the ground.
'We have employed the talents of designers and interior experts from across the world to create a world-class facility at our Abu Dhabi base which we believe will be a massive hit with our customers and the envy of our competitors.'
