Naturist flights to launch from Germany
30 January 2008

A German travel company has announced that it is to launch flights reserved for people who want to fly in the nude.

OssiUrlaub will offer the first service on 5 July between Erfurt in south-east Germany to the island of Usedom in the Baltic Sea.

The flights are expected to prove popular among people who lived in the former East Germany, as naturism was popular under communist rule, AFP reports.

'In the former East Germany, naturist holidays were a much-loved way of spending the best weeks of the year,' said Enrico Hess, the founder of OssiUrlaub.

'We want to make that freedom possible above the clouds too.'

Passengers will be required to remain clothed until they board the plane and ensure that they are covered up before disembarking.

The pilot and passenger attendants will keep their clothes on during the flight.
