Beatles-inspired hotel opens in Liverpool
01 February 2008
The Beatles-inspired Hard Days Night Hotel has opened its doors in Liverpool.
Set in the heart of the 'Beatles Quarter', close to the famous Cavern Club where the band played some of their first shows, the hotel features 110 rooms, including suites and penthouses.
One of the rooms, the Lennon suite, includes a white grand piano, and the majority of the hotel space is decorated by artwork by acclaimed Beatles artist Shannon.
There is also a restaurant called Blakes, named after Sir Peter Blake, the artist who designed the Sergeant Pepper album and whose images appear in the design of the restaurant.
Mike Dewey, general manager of the hotel, said: 'The Hard Days Night Hotel will prove to be a big success globally, providing stylish accommodation and original artwork.
'The team and I are very excited about the opening and look forward to welcoming our first guests.'
Liverpool was recently unveiled as the European Capital of Culture for 2008, an accolade which is expected to deliver a welcome boost to the local tourism industry.
