Croatia 'very popular at the moment'

Croatia is enjoying a boom in popularity with visitors from the UK, it has been claimed.
A spokesman for the Croatian National Tourist Office said that the country saw 275,000 British holidaymakers last year and trips are currently provided by 150 tour operators.
One of the reasons for this rising popularity, the spokesman claimed, is the exposure that the eastern European country has been receiving in the press.
Commenting on the particular areas that are attracting visitors, the industry representative said: 'It is very popular all over, up north from Rijeka, down south to Dubrovnik. We've got over 1,000 islands; the very popular ones are Korcula, Krk, Cres [and] Losinj.'
He added: 'Our coastline is very dense with over 1,000 islands. Of those 65 are populated and connected very well with the mainland.'
Croatia is currently well served from the UK, with carriers including British Airways and Croatia Airlines offering services from airports including Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester and Dublin.
