Travellers could be greeted by tea trolleys
04 February 2008

Travellers flying to and from UK airports could soon be greeted by tea ladies pushing trolleys of refreshments.

A Tory MP has put forward a motion calling for the introduction of tea trolleys in UK airports, the Times reports.

Michael Fabricant, MP for Lichfield, made the proposal after Mark Price, the managing director of Waitrose, suggested the idea to him.

Mr Fabricant said: 'I have travelled quite widely and I don't think that any country offers this. It would be a world first.'

He added: 'It wouldn't do the government any harm to compensate people for the long waits they're now experiencing at passport controls.'

Mr Price said that the tea trolley initiative would be a welcome boost to the experience that British people have as they return home from foreign travels.

The motion, which was tabled in the House of Commons, has reportedly received support from four other MPs.
