Qatar Airways to add new Heathrow route
08 February 2008
Qatar Airways has announced that it will add a new daily flight between Doha and London Heathrow this year.
The new service, which will launch on 30 March, will be the national carrier's fourth daily connection to Heathrow and will bring its total UK capacity to 42 flights a week.
Qatar Airways also offers links from Doha to Manchester airport and London Gatwick.
Akbar Al Baker, chief executive officer of the airline, said that London Heathrow had been its 'flagship route' for many years and stressed the importance of a comprehensive network of flights to the UK.
'We are delighted to be adding capacity on what is an extremely popular route with both business and leisure travellers,' he said.
'By launching a new early evening flight to London Heathrow from the start of the summer schedules, business travellers can spend a whole working day in Qatar before catching their flight.'
Qatar Airways uses an Airbus A330 aircraft on its Doha-London route, offering 12 seats in first class, 24 business-class spaces and 223 economy seats.
