Strikes cause disruption at Paris airport
11 February 2008
A number of flights from Orly airport have reportedly been cancelled due to strike action from the French civil aviation authority.
Unions are reported to be unhappy with plans to reorganise the control of the airspace around Paris.
However, a spokesperson from the Direction Generale de l'Aviation Civile (DGAC) told Reuters that although there is some disruption at the airport, there are currently 'no cancellations'.
Orly airport is also not the only hub to feel the effects of the action.
Speaking to AFP this weekend, a spokesperson from the organising union, the General Labour Confederation, said that flights could be 'heavily disrupted' and 'intra-European' services could also be affected.
The DGAC also states that services operating out of Charles de Gaulle airport may also be impacted by the strike action, the news provider reports.
It is also thought that more disruption to services could take place later this week.
