Finnair, Cathay Pacific to begin cooperation
13 February 2008

Finnair and Hong Kong-based airline Cathay Pacific will soon commence codesharing operations on routes in Asia and Australia.

From 1 March, the two oneworld alliance carriers will cooperate on flights between Hong Kong and the Australian cities of Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, and also to Bangkok in Thailand.

Mikko Komi of Finnair welcomed the fact that the collaboration will make more services available for the airline's passengers.

'Thanks to the cooperation, Finnair will be able to offer its customers more choices in Australia,' he said.

'The connections at Hong Kong airport are very convenient and the large number of destinations gives our customers flexibility in their travel plans.'

At present, Finnair flies to Hong Kong four times a week. From 26 April, the carrier will offer a daily flight to the city, which will run throughout the summer season using an Airbus A340 aircraft.
