Asian airports sweep ACI awards
26 February 2008
The Airports Council International (ACI) has revealed its service quality award winners for 2007, with Asian hubs sweeping the board.
South Korea's Incheon airport was named the best air travel base worldwide, followed by Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Central Japan.
In the regional sections of the awards, Johannesburg was named the best airport in Africa, along with Oporto, Portugal in Europe, Guayaquil, Ecuador in Latin America, Tel Aviv, Israel in the Middle East and Dallas Fort Worth in North America.
Scotland's Aberdeen airport was recognised for achieving the best improvement in 2007.
Craig Bradbrook of the ACI said: 'Service quality should never be viewed as a 'nice to have' feature in managing airport services, but as a key discipline in the airport management process.
'We see a high correlation between management commitment to service and passenger satisfaction.'
The service quality awards were based on the results of nearly 200,000 questionnaires completed by passengers in 2007, covering every element of the airport experience.
