Austrian 'ready for Euro 2008'
28 February 2008
Austrian Airlines (AUA) has claimed that most of its preparations for Euro 2008 are complete and it is ready for the expected influx of visitors for the football tournament.
The carrier said that the 'lion's share' of its preparations are complete, more than 100 days before the tournament is set to kick off.
In the short- and medium-haul segment, the airline is set to employ larger aircraft on European routes in order to cater for the higher passenger volumes that are expected.
A number of initiatives have also been organised to boost the enjoyment of people flying to Austria for Euro 2008, including the redesign of three of AUA's aircraft and plans to decorate onboard meals with a football theme.
All venues in Austria are already served by scheduled AUA flights and the carrier will offer more capacity than usual on these routes throughout Euro 2008.
The airline also serves all destinations in Switzerland that will be hosting matches except for Berne.
All British teams failed to qualify for Euro 2008 but an Austrian tourism representative recently predicted that a large number of fans from the UK will still travel to the competition.
