Eurostar to refurbish Gare du Nord facilities
28 February 2008
Rail operator Eurostar has announced the launch of a number of expansion works at Gare du Nord in Paris.
The company claimed that the developments will improve its check-in area at the station, providing faster and easier access to the departure lounge for passengers.
Changes will include new check-in gates, increasing capacity through border controls, and an additional X-ray machine, enabling a smoother flow of passengers and shorter queues.
Eurostar opened its new high-speed line between London and the continent on 14 November last year, which it claims has led to a 'significant increase' in the number of travellers using Gare du Nord.
'With record numbers of travellers now using Eurostar these improvements are vital,' said Simon Montague, the company's director of communications.
'Once they are completed, travelling with Eurostar will be even easier for millions of people each year.'
Trains are expected to continue to depart on time during the development work, which is scheduled for completion by the summer.
