AUA expands into Middle East
13 March 2008
Austrian Airlines (AUA) has announced that it is to expand further into the Middle East with new flights to Riyadh and Jeddah.
The two Saudi Arabian destinations will be incorporated into the airline's schedule from August this year.
Four flights a week will be available to Jeddah, with three a week to Riyadh, using an Airbus A320 featuring AUA's premium service concept.
Business-class passengers will be able to make use of 24 Recaro sleeper seats on the service.
Alfred Otsch, chief executive officer of Austrian, said: 'While industry experts are currently basing their forecast growth predictions in worldwide flight demand of approximately 4.8%, the rate of growth in the Middle East is expected to be approximately 7%.
'In the capital Riyadh and the major port city Jeddah, we are integrating two hugely important cities in Saudi Arabia into our route network.'
Austrian Airlines claims to already be well positioned in the Middle East, with above-average growth rates, high-revenue destinations and strong load factors.
