Oneworld prepares for Heathrow moves
26 March 2008
The oneworld airline alliance has announced that it is 'all set' for the first phase of a number of moves at London Heathrow.
People flying from Heathrow with a oneworld carrier, such as British Airways, Iberia or American Airlines, were advised to check the terminal their flights will use as around 50 airlines switch locations in a series of moves on 27 March.
When the changes are complete, oneworld airlines will have consolidated their operations at Heathrow into just two terminals.
British Airways will be among the biggest movers, with 70% of its operations from its London base moving to Terminal 5 on 27 March.
Later this year, Finnair will move its operations from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3, while Iberia will also transfer from Terminal 2.
Heathrow's third terminal is undergoing a £1bn improvement programme to bring it up to a similar standard to Terminal 5, meaning that oneworld airlines using the facility will be able to offer top-class services to their passengers.
Between them, oneworld's member carriers serve almost 700 airports in nearly 150 countries, with more than 9,000 departures every day.
