New seats installed in Swiss European fleet
11 April 2008
Swiss Airlines has announced that its plan to reequip all 52 aircraft in its European fleet has been completed.
The carrier said that passengers on its European flights will now be able to enjoy more legroom and enhanced comfort.
Manufactured by Recaro, the new seats are upholstered in leather and are lighter than their predecessors, meaning that aircraft should be able to burn less fuel.
Passengers will be able to access these seats on a number of new flights that Swiss introduced in March, to Sofia, St Petersburg and Florence, all of which are served from its hub in Zurich.
Chief network and distribution officer Harry Hohmeister, who was on the airline's first flight to St Petersburg, said: 'I am delighted that, alongside Moscow, we now have this second Russian destination in our route network.
'With our daily Swiss flight and Lufthansa's five further daily frequencies from Frankfurt and Munich, we can offer Swiss and Lufthansa customers an excellent range of services to and from St Petersburg.'
