Book to help Cardiff visitors on Dr Who trail
16 April 2008
Cardiff has enjoyed a boom in its tourism industry as it is the location where popular TV show Dr Who is filmed and a new book is set to be published to help visitors track down significant locations related to the programme, according to reports.
Tourists have flocked from destinations ranging from Australia to America to visit Cardiff and see some of the sites that have appeared in Dr Who.
A book is now set to act as an accompaniment to these tours by looking at some of the show's filming locations, the South Wales Echo reports.
The editors of the book, which is unofficial and not affiliated with Dr Who's producers, said the publication could add to fans' enjoyment of the programme.
One of the editors, John Evans, told the Echo: 'I have always enjoyed spotting the different filming locations the characters say they are in London, but I can tell they are really at the St David's shopping centre or somewhere similar in Cardiff or Newport.
'There are often tourists taking pictures of the locations in town, so we decided to create a guide for fans to help them spot the different sites.'
One of the most high-profile of Cardiff's attractions to have appeared in Dr Who is the Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay, which was used for an episode in the show's second series.
